Yesterday, April 28th, Diesel Place became a member of the AutoForums.com network of auto and truck enthusiast forums.
AutoForums is a small group featuring a variety of motoring websites which also means the ability to offer support and backing for Diesel Place clubs and events, supporting the community that supports the site!
Nick and I have both gone through a lot of changes in our personal and professional lives over the last 12 months that have made it impossible for us to keep up with the day to day operation of Diesel Place. It was a very, very tough decision for us to turn over ownership to anyone but we believe the AutoForums group has the resources to keep the community alive and growing.
The new owners do not have too many changes planned for the community. Nick and I will both remain on the staff as administrators for the immediate future and there will be no changes to our moderation team. Further, you’ll probably see more from us as members. You’ll also see a few representatives of AutoForums participating in discussions and handling many of the technical and administrative aspects of the forums.
AutoForums can offer more manpower, more flexibility, and an assured future for Diesel Place, the kind of things we’ve been wanting to offer for a long time. They will mainly take over the time consuming tasks such as server and software maintenance, email tech support (forgotten passwords, non working email addresses, username changes, etc), and vendor support (billing/account management). Basically, all of the mundane, day to day work.
We would like to thank all of the members and staff for making Diesel Place the largest diesel community on the Internet. Nick and I have enjoyed making it available for all of you!

Same stock message you see on every site when they take over. I like it when they say a small group of sites, sure would hate to see what they're version of a lot would be since they already own hundreds of just Automotive sites. Who nows what other kinds of sites.
I've been active on at least a half dozen sites through the years and it's been the same every time until here. They start off as just a fun place to hang out and then it turns greedy and becomes a money maker and the big business mentality moves in. That's about the time I move out and find the next one. That's the good thing about this one finally, it was started by a few guys that have been down this road enough times that they were sick of it also. Several local sites out there that manage to keep it for fun but this is the only national site I have found.

My stepfathers business is one of the best run I've seen. If he has a good year and makes an extra $100K for the business, it gets split up amongst his employee's come Christmas, he gives himself a 5% larger bonus than his guys, but he's not just an owner, he's a carpenter too, so he's getting dirty with the rest of them. I think he deserves more (after all, if a job needs to get done its the owner who stays late and comes in early), but all of his guys respect him for it, and appreciate where they work and who they work for, and it gives them a lot of motivation to work for a business where they split the profits, I wish the company I worked for would do that!
I know it sounds like I'm b#%ching, but I think its absurd that investors who do absolutely zero work make more money than even a janitor working 80 hours a week at years end, and that a CEO who runs a company into the ground can still get a multi-million dollar bonus come years end, while the people underneath him get laid off or have a wage freeze.
I understand the power of a free market economy, but you would HOPE that a persons conscience would outweigh their greed... Apparently this country has very few upper managers with good souls.
Off rant...
