Default 89 k1500 help

I recently replaced my passenger side CV axle. I took it turkey hunting and realized my 4x4 wasn't working. Looked underneath to check the thermal unit wire harness and noticed my axle had slipped out of the tube. Are there diffent length CV shafts for these model trucks? It was flush before I changed them. Could a different length shaft have pulled it out of the tube?

Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
