Ok so I'm taking my buddy home from my house. He's 20 and I'm 19. We see a car in a ditch so we pull over to help. It turns out to be a friend I know from my neighborhood. A f150 pulled up right behind us and called 911. I asked the boy if he wanted me to go get his mom and he said yes. So my buddy stays there, I go get his parents and when I return I notice the f150 has left so I was like "alright cool ill pick up my buddy and we'll leave" since we both had work at 5am and it was already 11. My friends walks towards my truck and the cops start yelling and telling him to go stand In the grass and pull my truck over. So I'm already kinda like wtf is going on? Well the boy told the cops that another vehicle ran him off the road and the cops thought it was me. So they come up and say "we know you ran this boy off the road" and that instantly pissed me off because I knew I didn't do anything wrong. I kept my cool and told the cop what happened and then his partner walks up and then it became a pissing match to see who could be a bigger dick. They kept calling me a liar, cussing, yelling all over nothing and I stayed calm and acted like I wasn't getting mad and kept saying yes sir, no sir, stuff like that and acted like it didn't bother me that they were yelling and stuff. Well then they take us to the station and say we have to make a report. I've done plenty of reports before so I agreed. We get to the station and they separate me and my friend. He taking into a room and I was left outside. I knew we weren't "filling out reports". After 20 or 39 minutes my friend comes out and I get taken into this little white room and I'm hammered with questions. They were trying to accuse me of running the boy off the road when I never did. They kept threatening me and saying "we will get to the bottom of this so come clean now" and I replied "sir that is the honest truth" finally about an hour later I'm allowed to go back outside and thinking i can go home. Wrong. We were bombarded with questions again. Mine and my buddies story matched up consistently and they said that was because we had already planned our stories. Then they look at my truck. Shining flashlights on my tires and measure the voids in the tires and say its a 1/16 off. Then he starts saying "if you wanna see who can be a bigger dick I promise we'll win. That truck got a lift?" I replied "yes sir it 2.5" leveling kit" and says "I can write you a citation for illegal suspension modification do all your interior & exterior lights work?" I say "no sir my dome light won't work" he says "there's another ticket. Does that exhaust have a cat and muffler?" I reply "no sir it's straight piped there's no emmissions here" he says "another ticket for illegally modifying exhaust" then this line pissed me off the worse "if we wanted to, we could make it look like that was your truck that ran him of the road and charge you with a felony" I simply looked at him and replied "sir I don't care how much you try to match my tire tread to that mark, it's impossible" he says "why is that?" I say "because I know that those aren't my marks." He laughs. Then says "if I catch you with you that tint on your truck I will have your truck impounded and you arrested" I just said "yes sir, are we free to go?" They walk away so we left at 1:30 am. Does that sound like harassment?

 

I am not a barney five but yes that sounds like harassment!

 

Im a retired POPO. That **** should have never happened. What you should do is file a formal complaint against the two officers about their misconduct, foul language, and idle threats. Use as many quotes as you can remember. The officers should have in-car video and audio. Send an email straight to the Chief of Police. Go right to the top! Be as detailed as possible, and let the **** roll down hill. You can also take your story to the local media, so the media can also follow-up. Dont let this just blow away in the wind.

 

I filed a complaint. Basically the cops denied ever saying it. And of course they believed the cops. My dad is captain at the county fire department and was pissed when I told him what happened. I'm gonna take this as far as possible. I don't want to sue or anything. I just don't want anyone to go through what we went through. It's amazing what goes on behind closed doors.

 

Let's see if INTERNAL AFFAIRS gets involve

In that case, take it to the media. Make a big stink about it. The Chief of Police then will have to do something about it......like assign it to Internal Affairs for additional action.

Your dad can also use his "pull" and complain to the C.O.P. Im sure once the media gets involved and "puts it out to the public", other people, who may have had negative contacts with these officers or other badge heavy idiots, may come forth with their complaints. Police Departments do not like bad negative press against them.

 

Why did'nt they just ask the kid you knew that got run off the road if you did it? Surely he could have exonerated you.

They did. And he changed his story twice. The first story was someone ran him off the road and then he said he over corrected and lost control
