Default Anyone Ever Work In Prudhoe Bay?

I may be heading up that way to do some work and am just curious about the bunking, meals, etc....about a month or so, maybe two...

I have an expense account but have to pay for it all first and get reimbursed later.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Dan

Dan, are you staying in one of the camps on the slope or in town? If staying in town get one of the survival kits when you get there. Of course, make sure you have good Antarctic gear and thermal underwear. If you're on the slope in a camp they will most likely provide you the survival kit but check on that. Some companies do and some dont. Buy a couple of balaclava's...one made of nylon and one made of wool. Also get the warmers that you stick in your pocket. You will want the rubber waders that fit over your boots and go to at least your waist. That region is in a constant state of permafrost so you will get yourself sunk up to your knee's a few times depending on where you are walking. As far as bunking and meals, if you're staying in a camp they will be provided for you. If in town then you will have to cover it yourself. Shoot back with any other questions you've got. I've spent quite a bit of time in Prudhoe Bay and The North Slope.

In the camps probably. I've got cold weather gear, but will look into the survival kit.

I'll be a "guest" of BP and working on their equipment....I've spoken with co-workers who have been up there but their opinions are biased, mostly because A) they screwed up enough to not be invited back and B) they're perpetual complainers anyways.

Thanks guys.

You'll be staying in their camp then. They will have someone to lead you around and tell you what you need. They dont like having the risk of a guy dying on their projects or job sites so you'll be taken care of. Dont pay any attention to those numbskull's.

Yep, but it might save your life. EVERYONE, who comes to The Slope for the first time WILL get harassed.
