OH OH!!! , pasture fires are no fun, my favorite tractor our MacDon Windrower caught fires two years ago, set 40 acres on fire, and then caught the roots on fire, Threw the ditcher on our Massey 180 and made a ditch off our creek and flooded the whole pasture. The insurace company came out and saw how much water was out there and said we could keep the windrower now its a friggin eye soar but I have a 4BT cummins sittin in my shop now.. But god needs farmers..

truck guy, how old are you? im 18 years old, sounds like were in the same boat. i was always taking things apart and putting back together and learned lots. my dad knows pretty much does it all, papaw was an engineer and a carpenter, stepdad is a painter, girlfriends dads a welder, uncle farms and works on hotrods. so lots of things to be learnt! trust me, that old farmer your working for is a gold-mine of information that will be useful someday (pretty soon at this rate) when this country goes to hell. gotta know how to farm and ride a horse and hunt for food also. always good things to know. keep working, its hard and it sucks sometimes, but man its rewarding! id give anything to have someone actually pay me to do something enjoyable like that. instead while going to school im working at STUPID k-mart.........

Get this....I took a friend of mine dove hunting last year. He didnt have a shotgun, so I loaned him one of mine. He had never been hunting of any kind at all. Anyway, I shot two rather quickly, and showed him what they looked like and such. After a while he shot one and wounded it. He had a queasy look on his face as he went to pick it up. He said he felt really bad for hurting the dove. I asked what he was gonna do with it and he said he didnt know. I grabbed it by the head and plucked it out of his hand, and rung its neck. His face went pale. I shot my limit and he only shot that one. He fired that one shot the whole time we were out there. When we got back to my house, he left right away b/c he didnt wanna see me clean them. I think he was traumatized by the whole thing.......the sissy!

I am ashamed to say I have never hunted anything exciting like deer or anything, but mostly just varmints in the pasture (Whatever was flying, TONS of rabbits, occasional hawks, and whatever else moved) with a high power 22 cal pellet rifle. The only times I ever felt bad was when I was out of ammo. There is LOTS of buzzards where we used to live in Central Texas that hung out waiting for something to die on a dead tree in our horse pasture. We used to zip tie the rabbits to the barbed wire fence and let the buzzards carry them off. I once did the zip tie too tight around the rabbits knees though. I came outside to see if he was gone yet and all that was left was from the knee down. We had a thicket of briars about 6 feet thick that made up half of our fence that was full of rabbits. Unfortunately, there was only one jack rabbit, but he was big. I once tried to shoot him when he was on his belly but he turned right as I pulled the trigger and I shot his foot and knocked off a claw and a toe. Our neighbor had a heck of a green thumb and sometimes would give us free ammo. I became a pretty good shot though. Could hit a quarter at 35 feet 2 out of 3 times.

No shame in that bro. Just watch the hawk thing. Shooting raptors can get you onto big time trouble if youre caught. Same with vultures. Im a volunteer with the Texas Department of Fish and Wildlife. Our instructors are Game Wardens who teach us about this stuff. Ive known about the raptors, but just recently about the vultures.

The only one I ever hit was what I think was a hawk, but it may not have been. I am not familiar with that kind of thing. It was either a small hawk or a large black bird. Just some bird that was black.
