Well I am up here and I spent about an hour with him where he is in the ICU. He has multiple tubes going in and out, I'm not going to go into specifics of it but even with everything hooked up to him he is refusing morphine which is good even though its painful it keeps it heart rate up and his Diastolic is wayyy to low to be using any type of pain medications.

He didn't want me to leave and he couldn't talk but he was awake, nodding, and crying. So I talked to him about what they are going to do tomorrow in surgery and in three days after tomorrow we will know if he is going to make it.

I asked him if he is strong enough to handle it (just to get him to show off) and he almost broke my fingers he was holding. We prayed and cried and then I did a motivational speech and during the speech his BP hiked up a few points and his heart rate and respiratory picked up too.

I basically told him I am going to Renew my vows with my wife in a year and a half at our 5 year anniversary which is on valentines day and he needs to be there to hold my son. I also told him I drove 9 hours to see him and will be here until this is over and my grandmother and him are coming home with me. He looked very excited about all of it.

I told him about my surgery in a few weeks and I told him he has to give this his best shot and fight because I need someone to motivate me to do my physical therapy regiment. He started smiling and I know if he pulls through he is going to go Drill Sargent on me.

All in all a good night and tomorrow I will go motivate him again before his surgery. It worked when he was giving up against cancer and I spent 6 months chewing him out and forcing him to live. I can't be as tough on him now but I know what it's going to take and once again we will take a hike to our family's waterfall in the mountains and he will hug me and thank me for saving his life for a second time.

Prayer, motivation, strength, and interaction is just what he needs to keep him going.

I will post some pics from his house of the medals I put together for his birthday a few years ago. It took me almost a year to hunt down all of the paperwork to match ALL of his medals to the letter.

Thanks again everyone I owe y'all big time!

Oh on a side note I am definitely his favorite family member not because of me being his only grandson but because I drove 9 hours straight and hobbled into his room unannounced while his son is 10 minutes away and doesn't show up or nighttime visitation where it counts.

His son is going to pitch a fit about me taking his parents home with me but he can deal with it. Real family takes care and will do anything that is needed. As he sits at home and gets high on pain meds because he is a loser and I will be dealing with him tomorrow. He had loosely handled a 1911 in my presence before and I'm thinking law enforcement will be involved on this one. Prescription Druggy with guns and no respect for others... Gonna have to bring my A game on this one.

Thats pathetic that he is on pain med and wont come see his own dad.. You are a strong man, and so is your grandfather. Stay with him til surgery, then go whip druggies ***, then be back to your grandfather

Let us know how things turn out, but nothing too personal if your not comfortable telling it. Best wishes!

I am about to head up to the hospital and force the surgeon to do the procedure. They are reluctant because he is running a temperature and he might not survive it. But if they don't try that will guarantee his death.

Thanks guys being able to talk about what's going on is helping allot!

It's time for me to go have a nice semi friendly conversation with the surgeon and tell him what is going to happen.

There is no reason that a 101*F temp should stop a surgery when if he doesn't have it he will surely die. Lets just say is am less that friendly than the others in my family. I don't put up with just NO or I can't.

Thanks again guys I will update y'all when I get back to the hotel.

More prayers sent. Your definitely beside a hero. Having a drugged up family member takes its toll. I t truly believe your grandfather is a hero. Sounds like he has had a good life with you. I truly hope you have more time with him. Do whatever necessary to get that surgery. I send the best of luck to you and your grandfather along with prayers. He is beside you, his hero.

I wouldnt be very happy with the surgeon either. Id explain to him what your issues with not doing it are. Theres gotta be a way to force the surgery done.. I mean that doesnt make sense. I hate hospitals... Nobody cares anymore these days

He pulled through the surgery great, they found the fistula and fixed it also which wasn't expected.

BP, HR, O2 all up!!!

Now we will know in three days if he is going to make it for sure.

Here's a picture of the medal case I put together of my grandfather just in case anyone wants *proof*...

I'm gonna fix where the one medal fell down but overall I think it looks nice
