Well I'm still looking. I thought I had a deal last sunday, but it seems some people have have a fundamental problem with the truth. A driveable, good running truck with no fees owed was found to have a busted radiator that looses rusty water and over $2400 in back fees owed. That and a 13 speed turned into a 9 speed.
I'm looking into a 79 352 pete right now with the 86" cab. It has twin recessed stacks and rear windows-which I hav'nt seen before. I'm hoping this one works out.
Does anyone know where to look as to production numbers on 352 petes? Where the stripes and specs all custom? Per the info I've found, the cabs were all hand toolled and individually painted.

My suggestion for checking production numbers would be to get friendly with a local Pete dealer. Let them look into it. In my experience they are a great source of info and invaluable when it comes to parts. I would think that most trucks from that era would have been hand painted using some standard patterns. If it was a special order paint job then it likely would have been hand laid out. I'm not sure about being hand tooled. I would think that may have been the case in earlier models and also at that point in time production lines weren't what we know them as now. Good chance the truck you saw with recessed stacks was a west coast truck. You didn't see that much away from the west coast and same with the rear windows. It would be kinda cool to see it now. I miss those days of trucking. Post some pics of what you see and let us all comment on them. Old trucks are cool.
My thoughts here.
Stay safe out there.

That is a rare one. I've been looking around and have only found 1 still working the road. There is one for sale in socal for $4K w a 3406b cat. I have not been able to see it yet. Needless to say, I'm still out looking. I might be settling on a pete 362 in town. We will see.
