Default 9 Speed??

ok this will sound weird but I have an idea I was wondering if you guys know which 9 speeds will mate up to a 5.9 cummins I know the old 2 1/2 ton military trucks had 5 spds but I well thinking bout putting one in my pickup if you dont know maybe you can help point me in the right direction. this isnt a cheap fix thing its a all out project idea just for the fun of it thank you.

I ran a 9 speed eaton/fuller with a 300 Cummins before

Thats one heavy tranny dude..................you aint got the truck for it........if ya did then ya should go with the 8.3 Cummins infront of it.......JMHO

get a underdrive unit if you want the slow gears.

This was tried a few years back and never could get the tranny to match up right. Was with the Eaton tranny to be specific.

The idea that did come out of it though for those folks runnin a 2WD was that you could go with a dual speed rear end. They are easy to come by used and not very expensive.

that might be an idea kinda wanna get away from my auto nothing wrong with it I just get bored with them.

The Ford L9000 I drove years ago was a 5.9 with a 9 speed. I couldnt tell you what year, but I was older, maybe EARLY 90's?

There are guys stuffing the BIG allison trannies in too. Requires a 3" body lift.
And 4wheel drive too. Also requires a divorced Transfer case.
