I ran a 9 speed eaton/fuller with a 300 Cummins before
Thats one heavy tranny dude..................you aint got the truck for it........if ya did then ya should go with the 8.3 Cummins infront of it.......JMHO |
get a underdrive unit if you want the slow gears.
This was tried a few years back and never could get the tranny to match up right. Was with the Eaton tranny to be specific.
well thank you for the quick replies it was just an idea was driving one earlier today and well made me think.
I watched that thread close with my mouth waterin. I wanted it to work in a bad sort a way.
The idea that did come out of it though for those folks runnin a 2WD was that you could go with a dual speed rear end. They are easy to come by used and not very expensive.
that might be an idea kinda wanna get away from my auto nothing wrong with it I just get bored with them.

The Ford L9000 I drove years ago was a 5.9 with a 9 speed. I couldnt tell you what year, but I was older, maybe EARLY 90's?
There are guys stuffing the BIG allison trannies in too. Requires a 3" body lift. And 4wheel drive too. Also requires a divorced Transfer case. |
