Pulled out the multi meter and looks like its a problem with the head unit. And of course the one year warranty is up on it so looks like I'm going to have to wait to get a head unit, everything but front speakers work on radio so ill just have to live with only radio till money comes up

If you don't have voltage on the remote wire with the head unit on you can wire from the ignition to the amp's remote terminal, add a switch and turn on the amp whenever you want

Are you positive you didn't check the power antenna wire ? Had that happen to me once, amps only worked when radio was selected. Switched to CD and they shut off.

I have a problem with my kenwood nav not kicking on the amp on occasion. found that if i turn the key to the on position then back one click and back to on, wait for minimaxx to initialize then start, it comes on every time. No idea why it does this but it works everytime. i'm so used to doing it that i do it automatically now.

How secure is your ground wire on your amp to frame? Usually 6-18" long is best... I try to make my ground the largest wire connected to the equipment just to satisfy me...

On the other hand, if your remote wire is not showing amps (miliamps), then that could also be your problem like stated above... use your ground wire (once it's been proven secure to frame) and your remote to test your amperage... it will be very low - ive been out of it too long... Probably show as mili-amps...

If no amps, then work back to the head unit... if amps then you have another problem...

I would start with the ground wire tho... Nothing will be stable and sometimes won't work without a good solid ground connection...
