Default Equalizers

Has any one ever had any luck with the SoundStorm S7EQ 7 Band graphic equalizer with subwoofer output

or the

Boss Audio AVA-1204

7 Band Equalizer With Subwoofer Output

I've found out good replys on them I'm leaning for to the Boss cause it's a better known name I haven't ever really anything about Sound Stream. Have any of you guys ran equalizers fromt these brands? And how much did they boost your sound clarity, and make your subs pound?

Hey Cowboy,

I'm not sure if you have recognized it- both units are the same - just a different front and name plate!!
Compare the location of the buttons, LED's and faders and you will see.

stay away from anything with less than 12 bands(minimum per octave)- because the frequencies used are to far away from each other.
Those devices will also shift your phase and add a lot of noise! not good.

You want clarity and/or your sub pounding?
Invest in a better headunit with all the things you need or go with that:

sorry for the blurry pic- just have thrown it on the scanner

I guess you want lil' extra punch?
This is difficult and you won't gain it with an equalizer.

Extra punch and distortion are close together. For that reason you need a unit which is easy and quick to adjust.
Not those tiny and flimsy level adjustments.

I'm not saying those units are bad- but the performance you get (let me express it with the word is limited!

If you have difficulties to get what you want you should re-think about your setup and if you can't change it, you can add something like this:
Special Processors

Those units are used since the 90's and are still good enough for the pro's.

No need to get a fancy and digital Alpine Imprint processor with 500(!) bands to adjust.
( the unit is good- but also not cheap!)

Thanks bud I'll defintly look into that

and I have a big question now??

My deck dose not have a i-pod hook up witch really sucks had it before really i-pods were popular

Well I want to find some way how I can run my i-pod in it with out one of those crappy FM transmitters witch up where I live gives me horrible reseption threw my stereo and when I have my deck all the way and the i-pod it only sounds like my deck is on 30 0r so when I would play cd's...

Is there any way I can get my i-pod to play threw my deck without a FM transmitter and have nice sounding music come out of it and so I can control my volume on my deck and maybe some what on my i-pod??

If you have an aux in everything is easy.
I still use my trusty old blaupunkt with the drive + play made by harman/kardon. Mine is the first generation drive+ play and they sold it for 50$.
But is cool tho, because it duplicates the control of the I-pod. Very easy to select music while driving.
It has an aux in and a radio transmitter supplied- of course I have thrown that transmitter into the trash.
Volume is still controlled by the head unit and it is still more than enough.

What kind of Head unit do you have? does it have a CD changer input? If yes, you might use this input, if you don't have an auxillary input.
There are several ways to achieve that.
Don't worry!
Just shoot a picture of the back of your head unit.

Pioneer DEH-P6300 CD Receiver with CD Changer Controls at Crutchfield.com

If you wouldn't mind and take a look bud and see if you could find a way how to hook my i-pod up

You are lucky - on the same side is an I-Pod adapter which is directly connected to the head unit instead a CD changer- runs you 30 bucks and you are done...
Have fun!

PAC iPodŽ Adapter for Pioneer

Or as in your manual!:
Using the AUX Source
An IP-BUS-RCA Interconnector such as CD-RB20 or CD-RB10 (sold separately) enables
you to connect this product to auxiliary equipment featuring an RCA output.
For more details, refer to the IP-BUS-RCA Interconnector’s Owner’s Manual.

I looked at those cords and thank you for your research but I think I got to ask one more favore ( I know I'm gettin to be a pain in your ***) But I order my stuff threw onlinecarstereo and they have good prices better that crutchfield on car audio electronics. But Onlinecarstereo looked like it didn't have the same cord as the link you sent me. Could you take a look at it and tell me if it's. It looks like the input cord is different but I'm not quite sure....

Here is the link to the cord that I wasn't sure about

PAC iC-PIOP iPod Accessories - Audio/Video Accessories at Onlinecarstereo.com

It says it works for pioneer decks that aren't I-pod capable but to me it looks different than the link to other cord. BTW: I apperciate your help in a great big manner. I wish I could re pay you bud Thank you

No need for repay- it's all about fun with Diesels!

It's the same connector, you can use it.
Just check out your headunit how to switch over for aux use. If you can do that, you are ready to go!
