Default vacuum line to injection pump?????

I am in the process of swapping a 84 6.2 into a 86 gasser. while digging around the engine labeling stuff for the swap i see there is a vacuum line from the vacuum pump that goes to some device that is attached to the injection pump. opposite side of the throttle then the line exits the device through a port just under the inlet and as far as i can tell it goes to the automatic transmission.

What is said device and what is its function?

i dont see why it would go to the injection pump, but if it goes to the trand then it is for vacuum modulation

I will try to post a picture tomorrow maybe someone will recognize it.

Along with the device, If I am bolting a 6.2L to a manual transmission do I even need the vacuum pump? Is there any accessories that run off of vacuum on an 86 3/4 ton.

okay in the attached picture I cicrcled the device in red. I know the vacuum line goes to the trans. that makes sense( thanks anyway cviola2005), but why is it routed through the device attached to the IP?

I belive it is kinda like a primative throttle position sensor type thing to let the trans know when to shift?

Okay thats makes sense. Is there any function other that auto trans shifting. Since this motor will get bolted up to a manual is why I ask. Is it even present on manual trans 6.2's.

I am now a owner of 6.5L Turbo Diesel. The truck runs great but I have noticed that I only hear a faint turbo whistle for time to time. I have been doing some research online about the 6.5 Diesel's and still have a few questions if anyone would like to help me out.
I have found that the wastegate valve has a port for a vacuum line but I can not find any unattached lines. Where does it get the vacuum from? I have checked the turbo shaft and it is spins free & is tight. Any thoughts??
