Im thinkin of doin a transmission swap, from E40d to 5 speed, It has 4:10 gears, Should I gear down to 5:13's cause i pull a 25 ft gooseneck, and in 4wd low range second gear it wont pull unless i geard down to 1st, or just switch the trans out with one that has 4:10's? What type of clutch kit should I go with? I would like a sorf of stiff clutch OPINIONS welcome

 

you can do 5.13, but dont expect to get above 55 mph EVER. that is a small GN, put in the 5 speed with a SMF and a good clutch(southbend makes a nice SMF and clutch kit) and run it.

 

Whats SMF and GN??

 

SMF= Solid mass flywheel
GN= Goose Neck.
