Default egr blockoff ?

Hello, about a year ago I sold my ol reliable 05 chevy 35004x4 lly with 270k "all stock". I bought an 07 classic about a year ago with 90k . Clean truck. Never had a minutes trouble from the 05. Engine light is on the 07 The light has been going on & off for about a month, lasts for a few days then goes off . Dealer says its an egr problem ? I pull dump trailers every day 10-15k & I'm pretty easy on it. does have a 4" exhaust & I bought a $200 edge juice w/attitude & put on about 3 months ago & run on the towing or economy setting. My question is, is it necessary to do this egr block-off ? will it effect the computer / performance of the truck?

Any input is appreciated. I'm not that knowledgeable on the d-max yet, just dont have to work on em much! I came from the 7.3 psd

thanks

does it have a turbo down pipe?? and with the kitty gone their is lots of flow out the manifolds and the EGR sees low flow hence the code, i got the code only once since I removed the factory DP and took the kitty off, some trucks are more prone to the code then others. if your egr valve is working get EFI or PPE and disable the codse and block, or blocker plate and finger stick with your programmer you have now, but from what I understand the valve has to work for the blocker plate and fingerstick to work. hopes this helps

the valve becomes useless as soon as the block off plate is installed, and for the Less than $20 you will spend on that mod it is well worth keeping all that sticky sooty mess out of the intake

to eliminate the code you need either a finger stick or a PPE xcllerator or EFI live, the Edge wont eliminate it
