Ok so this is my first diesel its a 84 suburban with the 6.2 in it....ive had it for a month and I love it, but yesterday I was removing the alt and the junction box on the fire wall stated smoking.... After everything was put back together the truck wouldnt turn over...no power to the dash, radio, no clicking from starter....I have head lights dash lights and glow plug is on a Sep switch and works. batts say 12.8 volts..... I've read a few of these forums and tried a ton of stuff
I have power to the alt, from starter to junction box, just nothin when I turn over key...
This is my daily driver, my olny driver I meed to get to work so any ideas would be super helpful

 

All of my power comes off the starter solenoid. If the wires got smoked coming up from the connection there it could be the problem.

 

I checked all connections and looked at the starter and didn't see anythin out of ordinary but I haven't takes connection off cuz its a bit of a pain but i have power from it and to it so thinkin its not the problem?????

 

If the junction box was smoking and it is still getting power across it then you have some wiring burned up down from it. Just going to have to trace power till you find the problem.
