Traded for a new tranny for my '87 2WD with an '88 7.3. Guy told me he'd done a bunch of these, and the 460 tranny works fine. Not so sure about that. Tranny seems to be cocked to the right about an inch, and won't rotate back the way I want. Not sure the starter has anywhere to go, either.

 

Yeah dude.... u got screwed the 7.3 trans is specific.... big block trans. is not able to bolt up..... tried that too...........NOOOOOTTTTT !!!!!!!!!

 

Did you try grinding off the locator pins?

 

you can make a BBF trans work. go to Oilburners.net and search for typ4 ZF5 mod.
