Default keep my lb7 or switch to 5.9 cummins

Hey guys, new to the site. Just thought I'd get some honest opinions here. I don't need the duramax or cummins sucks stories . Just need some input. I currently own a 01 duramax with built trans, intake and exhaust with my beginner tuner (banks six gun w/ sl). It has 175k on it. Head Gaskets starting to seep externally and could use all injectors. I'm a cummins certified tech and know the engines inside and out. You guys think its worth starting over on a cummins which I'm comfortable with knowing these engines inside and out? Of course that means giving up my already good trans. Or keep what I have and dump more money into it?

I'd love to do a swap. But don't have the time or money up front for something like that. Would be nice though....

I like the cummins, spend the money on the dodge tranny, instead of fixing your chevy truck

Just IMO, with an LB7 its always going to be another set of injectors. If your a GM guy, just get an LBZ. Newer truck, and less issues.

How much you looking to spend on one?

I agree on getting a cummins. I got my dmax before i became a cummins tech. I guess I'm just having a hard time letting go of my already built allison. Plus the 06 07 5.9 dodges, people still want a lot of money for them even with higher mileage or 2wd. Im trying to find a decent one for around $25k or so.

How much HP can the 48re handle with just maybe a billet TC and shift kit or something. Besides the AC problems my biggest concern with buying a dodge is the stock 48re. I'm looking for around a 500hp daily driver.

or do the LB7 to LLY head swap. may be able to do it for the price of one set of LB7 injectors and not have the LB7 injector problems

You'll love the drivetrain of cummins, chevy will be more comfortable and 500hp should be easy out of both.
