2001 cummins high idle miss
I'd like to thank everyone in advance for their help.
01' 24 valve 5spd
When i bought this truck it had severe issues which i knew.
Replaced injection pump,lift pump back to stock/carter electronic. Test start blew out side panel/lifter cover,still white smoke. Individual injector shutdown W/OBD scanner, #2 miss
took out injectors #2 tip cracked in half, used the broken injector for a compression tester. test kit from snap-on 800$

result is in the pictures.
replaced piston, rings, wrist pin good reused it. cleaned up cylinder luckily i bought a cummins, and was able to not sleeve it. cleaned up cyl wall rehatch.check tolerance and was still smaller than 2 other cylinders by .001
Was gonna set head, started clean it up, noticed a crack in 3 valve seats, sent to machine shop 4 new valve seats,
6 new injectors, took forever to start with 6 dry injectors+lines. Ran great, blowby was litterally about as hard as I exhale.
2 days later went outside 10 degrees F. north minn. started good about 2 revolutions and it was running. check oil press, good, walk away, im in the house and i hear it slowly climbing to high idle, starts missing?!!! go outside, its was knocking pretty hard not too bad,on one cyl, tap the throttle istantly goes away when high idle is broken. and it did it again after high idle established. so i warmed it up myself, drive it runs perfectly at operating temp.
3 days later, its about 20degrees out started it up, no high idle miss.
So, it seems i have a high idle miss/knock when its cold out, below 15degrees I'm guessing.
injection pump was from thoroughbred diesel. injectors were labeled standard, but i noticed the box said made in germany, 115$ a piece, father in-laws discount, from dodge, i think were 240$
obviously this isn"t normal. any info on this would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. piston wring assy, from dodge 290$ from cummins 140$ so give em a call, great to work with. 1-800-642-0085, outta twin cities.
