What a pain in the a$$! so i got it almost off. I cut it down low at the bend and iam trying to get it out by pulling whats left up but its hanging up. Its hitting the firewall up high near the hood. I cant get it down ether, the flange hits the exhaust up pipe. Any body have the trick to getting this out?

 

yeah, get a sawzall and cut the flange at the top after the bend and drop it out the bottom. they are a pain some times.

 

we had to cut mine like 3 or 4 times. huge pain in the ***. good idea is to take a nice size pipe and bend the hell out of your firewall. you will have to cut a little but beat the hell out of it real good. if not your floor will rattle your dash like mine haha

 

I only made one cut on mine... Just had to cut the "cobra head" or the flange that connects to the turbo. once that is off, It will slide/twist right out the bottom...

 

Haha i knew someone would say more cutting. What were they thinking when the made that thing. Makes me wonder why i bought a ford . guess iam going to get more blades and a big pry bar.

 

You don't need more cutting. You really only needed one cut... Right on top, cut the flange off. and drop the pipe straight out the bottom...

 

Well now that i got the old one off, i am trying to fit this new one on and its not working so good. Ive been using a pry bar to push the firewall back but it doesn't move much. This new down pipe isn't coming close to fitting done there. Any suggestions?

 

Go rent a portapower...

You need to really get after it if you go the pry bar route... Remember if you continue with the pry bar, leverage is your friend... A 2x4 on the trans and work against that... It would also help if you cut the seam with a sawzall into strips and bend those back instead of fighting the whole thing...

 

Yeah i have a 1" steel bar about 3 ' long and a block of wood and iam bending the bar. The port-a-power sound like a good idea. I got the pipe down in there now but its rubbing.

 

when you use the porta power. bend it a little further than what you need. it can come back and rub over time.
