Default problems with my jake brake?

I have a 2000 kenworth with a C12 cat in it, and i was driving it home the other day after being serviced and when i went to slow down, i had no jake brake. I tapped the pedal and everything but the jake wouldn't kick in. Do you guys have any idea what it could be?
