powerstroke chip
I just had to install a new pcm in my 2001 powerstroke. now no matter how much i clean the contacts on the pcm my ts chip will not work. the truck wont start with chip installed. I can take the chip out and it fires right up. the new pcm is the exact replacement part and was programed by a ford dealer. is it possiable the chip does not match the pcm now? or is it possiable my something happened to my chip and thats what took out my pcm?
I'm betting what ever took out the PCM, also took out your chip. If your using a PMT, NVK, NMM or XLE PCM and your chip was programed for PMT it will work fine. The only way your chip would not work is if your new PCM is for a 2002 or newer.
And if that were the case your truck would not start.
Dont clean the contacts too much or you will have to have your new PCM retinned.

I dont thinks its for a 2002 or newer, I took the pcm to napa and they got me the exact match. how would i go about getting my chip re-flashed or figure out what pcm code to give them? or should i go with a programer through the obd2 port?
A 2002 PCM will work in a E99-01 truck. The water in fuel light will be on and the charging system won't work, but the truck will physically run and drive.
If your PCM fried, it's very likely that the chip is dead too. A dead chip WILL cause a no-start every time.
