Default ksb question

is it possible for the dynamic timing advance piston to get stuck pushed out?

Yes; I've seen it happen due to varnish and gunk. By that time you're just as likely to start having governor parts get gummy as well though.

Note that the KSB only does anything when cold; the timing advance piston does its own thing during normal operation.

i am asking because like my trucks low end power seems to vary, i know air temp and air moister levels have a huge effect on our turbo motors but also the smoke thickness has even varied from one stoplight to the next. i have had the pump completely apart and i have found like bad surface rust on the afc arm and the govener, and now when i first start the truck and i let it idle till oil pressure comes up, if i just barely touch the throttle really quick it sounds like a hot rod p-pump, like that mechanical sound i guess you could call it. is my pump wearing out prematurely? i have always ran redline diesel cetain additive.

ill see if i can get a video where you can hear it, it only happens like two or three revs then it goes to normal, and im just barely blipping it, pedal only moves like 3/16 of an inch blip

i tune my pump by boost and how quickly the turbo lights and how much smoke i can get to disappear so right now my truck is at just a light light haze when the turbo is at 20 psi so i am burning all my fuel trying to be as efficient as possible. max boost is 40.2 psi at wot. do you think my pump is running low on fuel pressure at wot? i rarely go wide open for fear of blowing the head or turbo
