Default Engine prices

Well i'm back with the 87 6.9. Just a little update on the truck i sold it to a friend who screwed me. oh well i love the truck so i took it back with a bad trans , no ac , and some miner interoir damage but repairable. Well since the trans was out i took it to a local shop to rebuild it. A very good trans builder from the rumers i have heard. Anyways he builds the trans and still didnt shift right and told me that the vacume pump was week so i took the truck and put one on it. On the way back to the shop i noticed antifreeze rolling up on the hood and realized i blew a heater hose. No big deal right. pull over cut the hose and put some water in it. We got it to the shop and the first thing out of my mouth was we blew a hose on the way here and asked him to go ahead and replace them before going on any long test drives. Three days later we get a phone call from a friend that said someone was driving our truck like a bat from hell hallin a$$ weiving in and out of traffic. I just figured she was trying to start some crap being they were the one i reposesed the truck from. The next day i get a call from the shop that had my truck telling me it wouldn't start. Then he procedes to tell me that he is not a mechanic and doesnt have any idea why it wont start. Yea right!!! Well i get down there and cross the solenoid and sure enough it fires up missing and blowing water 4 feet out of the radiator. He pretty much avioded me for the next couple of trips to the shop and basicly told me he is not responsable for the damages to my truck. Things got kind of hectic around here and was put on the back burner till two weeks ago. Got it down to a friends shop and decided to pull the drain plug and got about 31/2 gallons of water. The motor is not locked up but the mech that looked at the truck told me the engine is no good any more. Well i am planning on taking him to small claims court ( like it will do anything ) to try and get some compension to fix my truck. What i do need need is a little guidence on a good place to find rebuilt engines for the ford diesel and is the engine really bad if it is not locked up?

Actually if it runs $6000 to fully reman a 6.2 Detroit Diesel, that 6.9 International is gonna run the same.

$3000 is what it may run to rebuild it. Reman and rebuild are completely different.

What happened to yours, they blew a head gasket. More than likely warped the head to.

we have not torn into the engine yet. what i do know is it was 42 out side when he ran it hot and used ditch water to get it back to the shop. i thought he might have cracked the block by useing the cold water in the hot engine but im not sure. it did have about 3 1/2 gallons of water in the motor while it sat sat since jan. i know it is not locked up.

Maybe you'll get lucky and it'll just be the head.
