I have a 91 ford IDI. When I bought the truck the previous owner told me he just had the transmission replaced and after that he just parked the truck. When i came in to ownership of the truck the transmission shifted fine until it got to overdrive. It would not shift into overdrive unless i floored it and then let completely off the pedal then it would engage fine but then wouldnt downshift when climbing a hill. I unplugged all the connectors on the transmission and cleaned the plugs just to make sure they were getting connection. I plugged them back in and now i only have first gear and overdrive. I have to shift manually now with only two gears and the overdrive light is blinking on and off. Help please. This is just a truck i use around the farm but most times two gears arent enough to get the job done. Oh and the trans fluid is very clean and at the correct level.

 

blinking OD lamp means there are fault codes in the trans. need to take it somewhere or learn how to get the codes out and fix what they say.

 

well i would b more than willing to take it somewhere but the guy i got that truck from has yet to send me the title. I traded a 39 ford for it and have had it for over a year now and havent been able to use it. I dont have a trailer big enough to tow it to a shop either so i have quite the predicament. haha
