Cummins- Manual or Auto?
I have wanted a Dodge Cummins for a long time now, I have never had a diesel before, I just think they are awesome. Truthfully I will not be doing much HEAVY hauling, nothing more than a bass boat. I would actually kind of prefer an auto but from what I have read I'm not sure that is the best route. What should I get auto or manual?
Personally I would go with the manual. It's just going to hold up better either way. And if you decide to do mods and the time comes where your clutch is slippin you just replace the clutch not the whole transmission.
I don't really have a problem with manuals, I think they're cool. I have never owned a manual, I learned on my friend's truck. Do you ever get sick of having to shift or does it just become an automatic type of thing?
The only time I don't like shifting is when I have a cup of coffee in one hand. That's pretty rare. Problem is, the suspension is so rough on my 1st Gen a cup holder doesn't really help much.
Clutches are cheaper than auto rebuilds.

manuals get old in stop and go traffic. if you drive a manual truck all day such as big rig or something like that it sucks to jump in your truck and have to shift gears to get home and relax. but ill take a manual over a auto 9 times out of 10. just my .02
