Default Looking at a 2004 LB7.

Looking to get my first diesel. I'm looking at a 2004 Chevy extended cab 4x4 with 167,000 miles on it. The owner said he's had it for about a year without a single problem. I asked him about the injectors and he said as far as he knows they have never been replaced. Is there a way I can do a vin check and see if they were ever replaced under warranty? I can pick it up for 15,000, does this seem like a fair deal? Is there anything else for me to look for? Thanks for any help in advance. Looking to join the diesel club soon.

yeah you can do a vin check and it will tell you if they have been done under waranty, a good idea if they haven't is to go have the injector balance rates checked and see if they are in spec. asuming that the truck is in nice shape, and more than just a regular cab then 15k seems to be the going price for them.
other than the injectors check the fluid conditions, if the oil is overfull and smells like diesel run . and see if it has been used to pull its whole life before you. plus what performance mods have been done to it.

Thanks turbo stang. Do you know how I would go about getting a vin check? He said that it's all stock except it has a bullydog programmer on it. Thanks again for your help.

any dealer can get a vin check for you probably cost a little bit but will be cheaper in the long run if you need to buy injectors.
