Default Power steering problem on 01 Dodge

I am at my wits end trying to fix this 01. It comes to me with a whine in the power steering. I installed a reman p/s pump. It leaves and is gone about a week. It comes back to me with no power steering or brakes. I pull it in and oddly enough when I hit the brakes it started pumping.

So I decide to install a remanufactured booster. After doing this I can get nothing out of the p/s pump. So I figure it might have been the pump and install another. It still pumps nothing. I removed the pump again and inspected the vacuum pump. Nothing wrong with the vacuum pump. I also pulled the pump from the reservoir to make sure there was no obstructions on the pickup. I reinstalled everything and again, nothing.

I pulled the pressure line off the booster. There is no fluid coming out of it at all. For some reason I decide to put air pressure into it while its running. All of a sudden it is blowing fluid everywhere. I reinstall the pressure line and everything is working. I drive the truck for a couple miles and all is good. The truck leaves a couple hours later and everything is fine on his way home. He goes to leave about an hour after getting home and nothing.

I go pick up the truck and drive it about ten miles back to the shop with no power steering or brakes. I start checking things out and I have nothing. My buddy decides to eliminate the gear box as a possible problem. It didnt change anything. I have since tried yet another p/s pump. Nothing.

I am at my wits end. I am totally baffled. Anyone ever have a situation like this?

Thanks for any help,

Mark

the trickiest thing with a ps pump is getting the air out of the system, try pulling the cap off then while setting still go complete side to side and bumping the stops several time each direction........its amazing the air bubbles that will perk up out of there.. when you have nothing hte pump is air locked and lost its prime..also I use synthetic ps fluid in mine

also check yer hoses over real well, by chance maybe one of them is shedding its skin on the inside and clogging things up, I have seen that on hydrolics before

what about the vac pump as the cause? i mean the shaft inside it or the ears or the lil drive disk

the vac pump just shares a common drive so that should be OK
