has anyone done a cummins swap?how difficult was it and what tranny shuld i use?

Im a mopar man but destroked has every thing you need and id go with a manual

Yea id stick with a manual or a built automatic the cummins likes to destroy autos if you watch craigslist you will catch a cheap manual

they make adapter kits that come with every thing.. but i would go with a standard if your going to go through all the work don't want to have to do it over... and let us know how much work it is and a price range cuz i want a cummins in my ford

its gona cost more cus the cummins i got has cracked heads and needs new injectors

I would use either a Getrag 5 speed (89-93) or NV4500 (better, 94-98 on 12v's). If you use a Ford tranny, you are going to have to buy an adapter plate, and they run around $700. Find a complete Dodge donor truck with engine and tranny and all and the project will be much easier.

And for a daily driver, I would say 3.55 gears in the back

Wow i think i would just find a different motor if your not looking to make huge power, 89-93 cummins, you can find them for under 2,ooo. As for tranny if your not looking to go over 350-400 and beat it up i would go with the getrag. I have had two rams with the getrag and both worked good.

I got my 96 donor truck with 215 p-pump and NV4500, freshly rebuilt engine, for $2100, and its been good to me the last 6k miles. Just gotta shop around
