Steering
Hi all. I'm a fairly new member although I've been surfing this sight for a couple years. Currently have a stock 02 Duramax 2500 HD. Had the truck a year so far and love it. Had to replace injectors a couple weeks ago ' OUCH ! But 110'000 miles I guess it's par for the course. Got to replace my Inner Tie Rods .Thought I'd go with Moog parts and maybe add a couple Tie Rod Sleeves. Any suggestions on parts or upgrade kits ? Anyway keep the info coming, I,m learning a lot. Agreed. Moog is basically the only chassis part I will use. You may want to check your pitman and Idler arm also while down there. I know I have had to replace the ones on my plow truck every year so far!!! I believe they are quite a common problem on these rigs...
Me im not a fan of the tie rod sleeves. yeah they are great for the tie rod itself but it does nothing for the tie rod ends. i would go with a heavy duty tie rod if you are serious about it. me i personally am getting FabTech Tie Rods $300 heres thier site
01-10 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD Fabtech HD Tie Rods
I like them better than regular tie rods because you can just look at them and see that they aren't going to be easy to break. on the site they have a side by side comparison and the fab tech are easily double the thickness of stock tie rods.
but thats just my 2 cents on tie-rods.
as for other mods, depends on what you want. i would say an exhaust should be up there on the list of upgrades, along with an intake. MBRP makes a good exhaust, so does Silverline. Intakes they are everywhere, i like Banks, other people think banks is over rated. do some searching, read some things and get the best deals you possibly can, cause i know from experiene that just from shopping around you can save hundreds, and learn alot in the process, like what parts perfrom better than others and what parts people recommend over others
