transfer case problems...
so here it is i got everything taken off to replace U-joints as per a knocking noise under the truck noticed that the trasfer case had some sheared bolts so i took it off put i new studs got some gasket maker got it lined up (with much effort) and now the bolt are going into the transmission faceplate but arent going in all the way so there is about 1/4-1/2" of room inbetween the two and the nuts wont thread onto the studs... now my truck is out of commission any ideas?

well, I am not familiar with your particular truck so this is just a somewhat educated guess... but it sounds to me like one of two things. Either the new studs you put in are too short or you don't have the internal splines lined up (or possibly both).
You said you noticed some "sheared" bolts... before you took the transfer case out did you check to see if all the mounting bolts were the same length?
You said you still have a 1/4-1/2 gap between the trans and tranfer case... again, I am not familiar with your particular truck but I would think the gap should close without being forced closed via bolting it down... which leads me to believe it may still not be properly aligned
