i bought an intercooler from a wrecked 99.5 powerstroke. it has oil inside the pipes and the intercooler, is it supposed to or so i need to clean it? is so whats the best way to? the intercooler has oil in it to, if its not supposed to then is it ruined and i got hosed or can it be cleaned? also, whats the best was to do the foil delete? thanks in advance

 

Its not abnormal for there to be oil there. You are gonna want a bunch of degreaser. Run that and water through it a couple times, rinse rinse rinse then let it dry out for a couple days. As for the Foil delete, I am of no help on that one. My guess is its glued on pretty good and it will just take some time to get off.

Also do reroute your CCV when you install the intercooler and you shouldn't have oil there anymore.

CrankCase Vent. Its on the passenger side valve cover and it routes the blowby back into the intake. That's probably where the oil came from in the first place. If you turn the doghouse that is on top of the valve cover around 180* and route some hose up over the booster and under the truck towards the back, you will be routing the oily residue away from the turbo and intercooler. Then plug the hole in the aluminum intake piece or get rid of that too.

I just ordered one today for my E99 Crankcase Vent Kit

 

i checked that out, its only available for the superdutys, would it work on my OBS?

 

It should work. But it would be cheaper to just DIY and get yourself some hose and run it to the back of the truck somewhere and then plug the hole in the aluminum housing.
