Hi, My Liberty 2.5 crd cuts out under throttle and load, it will start again after a few turns of the starter but the cycle starts again.
I had thought it was air locking but have eliminated this, I now think it is a sensor of some kind, anyone got any ideas?

My 4bt was acting similar with a clogged filter.

Let me ask you some questions before we can start to help you.
What's the mileage of your Jeep. Any modifications done?
Have you been driving through bad weather(rain, mud) lately? Do have the check engine light?
When did you changed the fuel filter the last time?

My first impression is humidity in the wiring or a bad Camshaft Position Sensor sensor.
But depending on your mileage it could also be a clogged boost pressure sensor. But I want to hear your answers first.

Thanks for reply, mileage 70.000, no mod's,this started over a year ago I had fuel filter changed in June last year and this seemed to help for a few months, however it started
again in October when pulling a horsebox but has reached the point where I know if I put
the foot down it will choke. I tried it yesterday over a quick 250 yard burst got up to around
40/45 mph and it cut out, pulled over and 2/3 turns of the starter had it running again.
I have noted that it happens when climbing under load, if I have been running at a steady speed and then hit the gas also if I have been rounding a round about and then hit the gas
when leaving it.
Should also say it happens in all weathers and never shows a fault code.

time to change the filter again, they don't last forever ya know.......

on edit, I would change it every other oil change.

Thanks for the info, I intend doing just that, however surely filter should do more than 3 months of fairly light driving before clogging. When it started acting up in October I removed it and checked for dirt it seemed clean as a whistle, previous one was very slimy.

So with the the things you describe and the mileage you have I think you have a different problem here.
Sure you should change your fuel filter every 12.000 miles or once a year. But the real cause seems to be somewhere else.
I want you to pull the boost and air intake pressure sensor. You will find it in the intake manifold next to the firewall. Just have a look at the picture you find in the Jeep threads.

Pull it and tell us if you find soot on the sensor. Clean it carefully with a brush and brake cleaner. Reinsert the sensor and go for a test ride, and report back, please.

Cleaned sensor as you suggested, oily but no carbon, refitted and tested problem still exists.
I will change fuel filter just to eliminate it tomorrow, you don't think it could be presure
sensor on end of common rail by any chance?
