Default Question about stacks

Ok I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, so here goes...
I got behind this dude today, and I seen he had this THANG stickin out of his bed. At first I thought it was a piece of PVC pipe, 8-10" around, stickn up like a stack. At the light I noticed some fumes, I tried to get a pick, but the smart *** thought I was trying to race him when I was driving Goldie, as if, I couldn't get a pick, but what's the purpose of having a 8-10" stack? **** it could of been 12" from the look of it.Was this dude a crackhead or what? I hope I'm not offending anyone if your a member, maybe its a performance thing, what do I know

Well, IMO your not doing much but posing a laughing risk to yourself once you go over the 8 inch size. I have 6 inchers on mine and they look huge to me. I couldn't imagine 12 inches. But it's all for looks anyways and I love the way mine look at 6.

I never liked stacks over 6 or 7"- it just doesn't look right but that's me. Everyone has different likings though.
Some people have problems with hood stacks b/c they think it's just for pull trucks even though it's just a damn pipe out the hood right off the turbo but if it's bed stacks it's perfectly ok to them even though you can easily say "oh, that's for 18-wheelers". But whatever shakes their tree I guess...

mine is 7" and I was just through your area.. a few days after this was posted haha. but thats just the size I ended up with, I was looking for a single 6" and was offered a 7" cheap so I grabbed it... ended up a bit too short and loud n the cab so i sleeved stove pipe over it for now to keep things quiet.

performance.. very little.
sound. YES!

I love the way a stack sounds personally (or duals) a lot of dual stack setups, mainly turnouts are there for a reason, to keep the soot/fumes off and away from trailers. livestock etc. the rest are for looks and sound. hood stacks, and singles are used a lot for pulling and racing since the exhaust has to exit upwards!

Size matters, so I went with the 8" duals, miter cut. As far as the sound it is not much louder than my straight pipe. 70 mph hardly hear them

Up Opinions are like????

I have a set of stacks on my truck. Stacks are just about like any accessory for a car or truck. Not necessary but something we do to personalize our trucks. As far as having bigger pipes, it's a matter of taste. Few people could say they need stacks and be legit about it. My pipes are 5" straight cut with rain caps. Old school look, didn't need 'em but wanted 'em. My opinion is that they should be proportional to the truck. I think the anything over 5-6" is overkill and looks out of place but that's just me. We all know how we feel about our own mods to our trucks and everyone else's mods to theirs. Ours is always better.
Stay safe out there.
Ken

i went witha single 7 inch stack, and it was over kill imo. anything over a 6 is just for looks. a bigger stack does nothing for preformance.

there is really no need to go any bigger than 5" ... any bigger is for looks and sound. For me I love how my single 7" sounds and looks

I've got a single black 6" mitre. Have to run it in the summer, the pulling associations around here want smoke to exit straight up or down and I won't let them shove that 90 in my side exit exhaust to be legal, looks stupid in my opinion.
