Default ISM cummins Fun

... The other day I had a Truck come into the shop and the driver complained of a boost leak. Truck is a 2005 Int 9200i. So i did normal check. Charge air connections first. I found a boot that had a pin hole in it..I was thinking .. Easy fix!. I put new boots on it and drove it. It would build boost and lose it fast. So I pulled into the shop. Next i check the O-ring in the turbo/charge air connection. It had a nick in it. I was thinking ..Replaced a $.30 o-ring. I test drove it and it built boost and then fall on its face. i was thinking hmmm wtf. Well reved it up and you could hear it in the cab. Turned out to be the dang EGR air transfer tube. SOB it was a pain in the A** the accordian ( sp?) elbow on the back of the engine was rotted out. The new style was alot different deletes that elbow connection. Thank god.. Now i have 4 more trucks with the same engine.... ok Rant over

plus the price always got me.

200 bucks for an egr valve for ism

1200 for egr for volvo.

ism has one valve

volvo has 2, and they should be replaced at same time.

dumb.
