Default turbo questions

my 02 cummins is an auto...do i have an hy35 turbo? and will a hx40 be a good upgrade? or can i upgrade the turbo i have? maybe install a bigger wheel in it? any thoughts on this? or should i just go buy a 1600 dollar turbo down the road? thanks guys

i believe 24 valves all hx35. should say on id plate on turbo.. you will find alot of mixed feelengs on hx40 due to shaft failure. ou can get a good deal on a turbo from one of th vendors on here.

'01 and '02 autos ran hy35s.

thats what i thought...whats the recommendation for my turbo situation...i dont need to go out and buy a turbo right this second...but am thinking bout future mods, and getting opinions from the greatest site for diesel owners(diesel bombers)

whats your goal for power? You need to know that before you buy a turbo. So you don't have to buy another one down the road.

Redneck I was in your shoes before. You dont have to spend 1600 to get a nice turbo. In the reality of things your going to be better off going with a 40 style set up, lower egt should help out on the power of thing and get one that has an extended tip on it so you still have the power on the low end too. It really depends on what your looking to do with the truck. Let me know what you want and i can see if i cannot get ya a good price on it.

You can get a Super B or Phat Shaft 62 for well under $1600.
