Default Need opinions on the new Ford 6.0

I'm about to buy my first diesel. A Ford F250 6.0.
Problem is, I'm being told that the 6.0 is crap.

I'm not feeling very good about potentially buying a crappy engine.

I'm looking for advice. Is it really a bad idea to buy a Ford with the 6.0?

there are a lot of 6.0s out there. its not hte best engine but I think if your not stupid with it and fix its problems b4 you start throwing programers and turbos at it you'll be fine. I still say for your first diesel find an older 94-98 cummins or a 95-2003 7.3L betters engines all around

You either get a good one or a bad one their isn't much inbetween. I would go 05 or newer. My dads 05 6.0 has a Edge Juice and has been fine so far but only has 35K.
I wouldn't buy it unless I knew the warranty history on it.

I have a 2005 ford with a 6.0 in it and it is crap but does tow well when it is running right. I am selling the truck just for that reason and getting a older diesel

My brother and a friend both have sick liters that are 03's and they have had a butt load of trouble with both of their trucks with turbos, egr valves, and the high pressure oil pump for the injectors. but when they run they haul the mail and tow pretty good, but I prefer reliability and longevity, therefore i own a cummins

a couple of my friends run 6.0's and they have both had ALOT of problems. everything from a egr valves to new trannys! When they run right i will admit they are quick and sound sick with an open exhaust "vgt turbo" I would say if your going to go with a superduty find one with a 7.3 I think they are a much better motor and not as scary looking under the hood!

just an update my buddy just blew his egr valve yesterday...this is the third time and they are not cheap!

We have had two 03's with 6.0s had nothing but probs with the injectors going bad & some other probs. We currently have an 08 with the 6.0 & started having probs with it at 12,000 miles & still are fighting with Ford to fix it & currently going thru all the lemon law b.s. We have an 06 Dodge with 54,000 miles & have had no probs at all! If your set on a Ford I would definitely go with the 7.3 we had one of those too & no probs with it at all, it was a work horse!

I love mine and have only had to put an EGR in it. Absolutely no problems otherwise
