Default Turbo Boost Failure

ite so check this out. my check engine light has been going off and on for about a week to ten days. so i take it to my local dealer and they tell me i have turbo boost failure and that they have to clean the turbo and then run a test to see if it fixes the problem. i asked him if this problem has anything to do with the new emissions, his answer wuz, "it has everything to do with that and letting your truck idle." can someone tell me when we started building a F$#%ing diesel engine that you cant leave idling. i run hotshot for a living, i sleep in my truck on occasion. i will be damned if i sleep in my truck in texas heat with no a/c. oh yah and come to find out dodges special little cleaning process didnt work and i am now waitning on a brand new turbo for my truck. does anyone know if straight piping my 6.7 will solve this problem and how do i get around DOT if i do this?

IIRC the turbo's on the 6.7 has the varial vain technology correct? if so you could have had a stuck vane caused by excessive soot buildup.

They drill a hole in the turbo and inject some kind of cleaning solution into it to dislodge all the built up soot. They were just replacing turbos but I guess Dodge got tired of paying for all those turbos.
Anyways, you can get a DPF and EGR delete which should cure most of the common problems with these trucks. I have been getting the same codes/cels and I am now awaiting my delete kits so I can quit worrying about this. You will still get an EGR code but it's harmless and you can clear it with a scantool.
I agree that it is ridiculous that we have to drive the trucks very hard to keep from having problems. Dodge should make us sign a waiver stating that we understand that using the truck as a daily driver will cause major problems.....

yah dodgezilla is right about how they clean the turbos the tech at the shop described it to me just like that. and they do get dirty from soot building up in the veins of the turbo. i dont have time for this kind of crap. i am on a 700 mile run in my bosses truck making a fifth of what i should cuz my truck is in the shop. i swear if i ever meet someone that works for the EPA ima busta big one all up on their face. like i give a damn if some frogs die from diesel soot!!! I WANT MY TRUCK TO RUN!!
