Resistor in wiring on 91 D-250. What does it do?

Resistor in wiring on 91 D-250. What does it do?
Does anyone know what this does, where it's at, what it looks like, etc.? I'm trying to troubleshoot a no brake lights problem, and i found that both of the white/tan wires and one of the pink/dk blue wires at the connector for the brake light switch are melted, then i saw this on the diagram. Any ideas?
