Default The brake light problems continue...

So my truck has absolutely no brake lights. I started with new bulbs and that did not fix the problem. Next it was the fuses. Replaced fuse with a new 1 but still no brake lights. Then to autozone for a new brake switch. installed the new brake switch but still no brake lights. Am I missing something? Does anyone have any ideas as to what I should try next? Thanks to everyone in advance for their help. You guys are all great.

do you have your regular rear parking lights? Does anything at all light up on the rear?

When I turn my lights on I have taillights back there they are both working. Its just the brake lights. Whether the lights are on or off I still don't get brake lights.

One of three things could be the problem:
1. check all grounds for the rear lighting
2. Do you have a trailer lighting plug, take apart and check all wiring inside, repair and
repair and replace as needed.
3. If #2 is true (trailer wiring) check the trailer wiring harness relay under the hood
(driver's front fender, near firewall)

Hope this gives you a starting point....

The wiring seems to be ok from what I can see. Where exactly are the grounds for the brake lights? I've been crawling under my truck all morning trying to find them...

I think they are grounded around the plug behind the rear bumper that connects the wiring harness on the frame to the harness on the bed.

On a thread hijacking note, changing out the automatic brake pedal to a brake clutch pedal assembly today, I found my wiring to the brake light switch all melted down with no insulation any more...Guess I need to do some rewiring as well!

Good Luck!
