Howdy. lurker, just joined. As my title says, what year is best overall ? I understand the 12v is a mechanical, so no electronics. If I understand correctly my truck is set up with the duramax wiring harness, since they share most components.

I had a 2016 duramax. Sold it this fall. I don't want all the expensive future issues with the d-max. I have built this truck. We sandblasted the frame this fall and put on a new used box (was from colorado), new hood with scoop, I'd buy a dodge, but the bodies/cabs in my opine suck. Mine is a crew cab. I'll post a pic.

Anyways, back to my question. From what I've read the 96-early 98 are the best 12v. But I am open to any suggestions
