I'm in the process purchasing an 06 Duramax and by VIN it's the LLY version. From all my research this engine is a detuned LBZ, and I'd like to get it up to LBZ power levels. Is this something I can do with a simple tuner, or is it better to do the EFI Live with Edge monitor?

I do plan on a few mods, it already has a K&N intake, I'm not sure that's staying. I'd like to do a 4" turbo back exhaust and BPD EGR cooler as well. I don't want to hurt the longevity of the truck, so I'm not looking to push the envelope on HP. I also plan on pulling apart the t-case and see if I have a rub issue and check out the transmission cooler lines. Are there any other possible issues I should be looking at?
