Default 89 TF727 lost reverse

OK Ill make this quick. I never really adjusted my bands years ago when I tore the trans apart to put a shorter tail shaft and housing on. Thats About 6 to 7 years ago. Everything's driving fine and shifting good. The trans probably only has about 500 or so miles on it. What I've noticed from day one is that in REVERSE it kind of has a shudder. So Since the truck hasn't been on the road for a couple months (unrelated issue) I decided to adjust the bands. 72 inch pounds and then 2 turns out. Front band, No problem. Heres where I ran into the issue. Even with the lock nut off the adjusting screw on the rear servo arm. I cant reach 72 inch pounds. Its like the screw isn't long enough. So I decided to be a smart *** and get a bolt that was about a 1/4 inch longer than the original. So I adjusted to 72, backed it off 2 turns and put it all together. Forward gears no problem. Even more torque now. As soon as I put it in reverse, I heard a loud CLICK and now NO reverse. I've been looking online and finding anything from the reverse strut snapped to a broke servo piston. Now keep in mind my original screw was maxed out and I still had about 1/2 play between arm and servo. Any Idea's on whats up. The servo looked like it coulda been up too high to me creating the excess play?? From what I can see I have plenty of band material . So at this point I have to drop the pan AGAIN and see what pieces are in there. Just wanted some input from y'all about maybe why I couldn't get the adjustment I needed. Obviously Putting the longer bolt in to achieve my torque broke something. Thanks Mike

Heres what I found .I know why the piece of metal is bent. And the servo is obviously cracked. Any ideas why my servo arm is loose from the servo . It wasnt stuck in the bore. And my band is still thick. Why cant I get my adjustment?

I got the new servo and a longer strut coming. Apparently when the drum gets cut a longer strut is needed. I think when they rebuilt the trans they used the stock strut. Thats why i couldn't get my adjustment. Ive never had an issue with this trans until i overtightened the servo arm. I will update this after I get it back together in the next week and a half or so

Default All back together

With the new parts installed, all my bands adjustments are good now. Big difference in torque and shifting. Reverse never hooked up like it does now .The new reverse servo and strut definitely did the job. Original strut and new longer one
Original reverse servo and new billet one
