Default Why is my vacuum pump deleted?

I have a Chevy c3500 6.5 turbo diesel. It is a wrecker tow truck. I bought this truck recently and noticed the vacuum pump has been deleted. What are the pros and cons? The guy that sold it to me never mentioned anything about this...

I think the only thing that was run on vacuum on those trucks was the wastegate, and from what I hear, the pump wasn't very reliable, and rebuilt replacements were even less reliable.

Yea looks like this guy that sold me the truck just took the pump off, probably because it failed, and just left it that way... so I've been driving it without any wastegate control at all...
