Cruise control problem

Every so often my cruise control will not engage. Hit the button and speed button and no light on console, and no control. Also the other day, I was using it and it just disengaged. This happened 2 or 3 times.

sounds like the clock spring went, common in these trucks

I was having the same problem and went on this sight and someone suggested changing the brake pressure deactivator switch.I did that and it now works perfect. The part cost was $65.00 In Texas From a ford dealer
