Default 96 powerstroke problem

First of all, sorry ahead of this time as im sure its been asked countless times but iv searched and have only found things that werent doing what mine is doing. So i went to go start my truck earlier, it was around 60 degrees last night an 85 when i was starting it. All it did was crank and crank. While i was cranking it it poure white smoke. When it finally started it turned to black smoke. But only smoked when i hit the go fast pedal. It looked like a 12v by how much/black the smoke was. Im new to owning diesels. But should i start by getting new glow plugs an injector o rings? Or would this be something else? Also where should i get glow plugs from? Any specific brand thats better or will any from the local parts store suffice? Thanks for any help

If you have never changed them glow plugs and a relay wouldn't hurt. Get either motorcraft or international glow plugs, never run autolites. I get my relays at Napa. I would see if that helps, if not you need to scan it to figure out the issue

I just recently got the truck so i havent. I was told it has new glow plugs, but they could be autolites . Am i able to scan it if there isnt a light on? My check engine light comes on sometimes and it acts like its inthe high idle mode. And if i flip my switch on my tuner it goes off. Im going to talk tote vender about that tommorow. But te check engine light goes off before i can even get to a scanner. But i believe that is a whole nother problem

Pull the chip all together and see what that does. It shouldn't be switching tunes on its own
