Default she runs!...then dies

got a 1990 ford with a 6.9. been trouble shooting this beast for a while and its driving me nuts. hoping some one out there will be able to help. so i did a complete top end rebuild on it (for a high schooler anyway) pretty much just went through the gaskets and what not. i was so excited that i hit the road... for a few blocks. she died about 9 blocks from my house. looked at my volts and she was dead. so i went through the charging system and one cut wire and a fusible link later i was back on the road. or at least so i thought. about 5-6 blocks later it died again with 14 volts. wait for it to cool down and it will fire right back up. it chews through gpc's like a **** too. i was thinking it has somthing to do with my fuel shut off solenoid but idk. any ideas? or anyone around wausau wisconsin thats good with these trucks? help is GREATLY appreciated!

Or, if you're lucky like I was, you can get a IP at a salvage yard, to get you by till you can afford one. I'm saving to get an IP and all injectors at once.

as long as ya know how to set up the timing long enough to get it to a shop for timing to be set correctly ....

Or if ya know how to set timing your self .... setting the gear is close ... fine tuning is always needed...

usually to get it close, advance until you get the powerstroke rattle, it sounds like marbles are inside your intake, pretty unmistakeable, then retard the timing until you cannot hear it
