Default IDI IP pump tuning help

I went to turn my injection pump up on my IDI and i can't get it to turn. I feel like if I push any harder it's gonna snap somethin. Is it common to be pretty tough to turn?

Are you talking about the timing? You need to loosen the 3 9/16 nuts holding the pump to the oil filler, then with a 3/4 wrench I believe that's the size. You can place it onto the square notch on the front of the pump, and turn it either way. Yes it can get tough to turn, but please be careful.

No the fuel screw. It wouldn't turn either way and it stripped out so I can't turn it now. I'll wait till I get a new pump

I know with mine, It does not turn easily. I had to bend the end of a key into a loop, now I just stick a screw driver in and easier than pie

If you couldn't turn it, someone else may have maxed it out. Over tightening it can damage the pump internals. If it's maxed out and you aren't getting any smoke(not promoting it) out of it, the pump itself may be tired.

That's probably what happened then. I'm sure it's tired, it's got 180k on it. I'll just have to get it rebuilt
