Welcome to DB
Just build your truck up to suit your needs, like for towing trailers and whatever else your truck will be used for and most likely as you build it up you will get some smoke... the goverment doesnt seem to like smoke anymore diesel smoke ciggaret smoke nothing.. nor do a lot of the guys on here like it when people just ask how to get more smoke, you normally get some sarcastic comments!!! do you currently have any mods to the truck??? i would highly recommend and aftermarket lift pump ie- airdog or fass system and a good set of guages these injector pumps dont like low fuel pressure... good luck

If you’re going to pull no more than horses I would suggest doing an aftermarket lift pump. I personally have the air dog and have had no issues with it at all. I would also get a programmer. I have the Quadzilla adrenaline with pulse v2. These are no longer being made but if you can find one they in my opinion are the best programmer. They make the most power or equal to and they by far have the most customization options. I would not get injectors. If you’re only going to pull your horses your truck can do that now. If you get a programmer you can turn down the level and not have to worry about a ton of smoke on your horses, But if you get a large injector every time you lug your engine up a steep hill or pulling hard you will smoke out your horses and you can’t turn down the injectors. The bottom line is you need a programmer for what you want. You can turn it up and run hard poor smoke out of the exhaust and then turn it down when towing your horses. You need a lift pump to supply your VP pump with enough fuel to keep it cool and enough fuel to use when you’re demanding lots of fuel for power.
