About a month ago when it is extremely cold and I start my truck it pulls enough juice to reset the clock to 12:00. Yesterday when I started it it said battery not charging and battery light was on. I was 10 miles from home and halfway home it started charging and battery light went off. This morning the first time I started it everything was normal, the second time I started it it showed battery not charging and battery light was on.
Would it be ground? battery connection issues? Any suggestions very much appreciated.

 

Have you checked the alternator

 

X2 on the alternator. Have you checked to see what it's putting out for voltage?

 

I'd start by cleaning all battery terminal connections, if that dosn't cure it test the alternator and load test the batteries.

 

I had the same problem. Ended up going through to sets of batteries to find out it was the alternator even though it test good.

 

Ground are a big deal on these trucks make sure there clean,tight,and in good shape.
