07 dmax classic

Excuse me if this is a repeat ? but will it harm my truck to run it with the 404 egr code. I dissasembled/reassembled and cleaned it yesterday. however I still have the engine light. I have 55,000 miles on truck and have had it since new. I just do not have 500$ to drop on it. Please advise
